The Architecture of a Divine Giggle: Why Shattered Windows are the Secret to Spiritual Vision

Its been too long since we've blogged - its time to renewal our exploration.....

Introduction: The Weight of the "Macro World"
We live in an era dominated by the "macro world"—a landscape of global upheaval, political friction, and a collective yearning for peace that often feels just out of reach. Even the Pope has stepped onto the world stage recently, calling for an end to war and urging us to become peacemakers, recognizing that we have reached a spiritual maturity where unconditional love must become our primary language. Yet, when the weight of these external events pulls us down, the invitation is not to fight the chaos, but to retreat into the "inner world" to find a freedom that does not depend on circumstances.

True spiritual growth is rarely about the arduous climb of "achieving" a new state of being. Rather, it is a process of sacred archaeology—unearthing and remembering a state of grace we once inhabited as children. It is the realization that freedom is not found by changing the world, but by shifting our internal frequency from the static of fear to the resonance of surrender.

Takeaway 1: The Divine Giggle — Lessons from a Bubbling Baby
The architecture of our liberation is built on the foundation of a child’s laughter. Consider the simplicity of an adult blowing bubbles on a baby’s stomach. To a cynical observer, the adult appears "weird" or "stupid," but the baby possesses a clarity we often lose. The baby does not judge the intent or fear the action; the baby simply dissolves into a giggle.

This is more than a cute observation; it is the "Namaste principle" in its purest form. When we look at that baby, we are looking at the face of God, and the baby’s laughter is the reflection of that divine radiance. Freedom from fear begins when we stop questioning our worthiness and accept that we are already the beloved.

"God be merciful onto us and bless us and cause his face to shine upon us... it’s about God saying, 'You’re already blessed.'"

Takeaway 2: The Shattered Window — Why "Cracks" Lead to Clearer Vision
Sometimes, the "macro world" breaks into our private sanctuary. Such was the case when a gardener’s weed whacker sent a rock through a sliding glass door, transforming a clear view into a spider web of shattered glass. Looking through those cracks, the world appeared distorted and fractured.

However, a deeper spiritual alchemy was at play. The repair was handled by a father-son business—a terrestrial reflection of the Divine Trinity. While the "Son" did the labor, the "Father" oversaw the source and the outcome. Throughout the process, the mind’s "squirrel chatter" attempted to hijack the peace of the moment. There was the worry over the $650 cost, the anxiety of time, and the mundane "mundane gossip" of the repairman—who spent as much time telling stories about Coachella tourists and Miami partiers as he did working.

But the true insight lay in the glass itself. The old window, in place since the 1980s, had accumulated a "fog" of residue between its double panes over decades—a metaphor for the false self and the internal narratives that cloud our vision. When the son removed the shattered glass to take it to a recycler in Los Angeles to be melted down and reformed, it mirrored the spiritual "annihilation of the false self." We must be broken and melted down to be made new. When the new glass was installed, the vision of the beauty outside was not just restored; it was clarified in a way the old, foggy "self" could never have allowed.

Takeaway 3: The "Southwest Airlines" Trap — The Cost of Needing to Be Right
One of the most insidious barriers to freedom is the ego’s craving for validation, even at the cost of its own happiness. This is the "Southwest Trap." Knowing that a flight after 2:00 PM is almost always late, we often "set up" the experience by holding onto the expectation of a delay.

When the notification finally arrives that the flight is behind schedule, a dark corner of the ego feels a sense of satisfaction. We didn't "cancel the thought" of the delay because, subconsciously, we wanted the satisfaction of being right more than we wanted the peace of being free. This illustrates the core Unity principle: our thoughts shape our experience. We must choose: do we want to be right about our fears, or do we want to be free in Divine Time?

Takeaway 4: The Four-Step Ladder to Holy Union
To transition from the contraction of fear to the expansion of divine connection, we must navigate a specific spiritual ladder. This is the pathway out of "squirrel chatter" and into the presence of the Divine:

* Fear: The initial human response to a world that feels broken or out of our control.
* Trust: The nascent realization that God is present everywhere—even in the gardener’s rock and the repairman’s chatter.
* Surrender: Not the surrender of a defeated soldier, but the "letting go and letting God." It is the cessation of the struggle to control the timing of the "son’s" work or the departure of the flight.
* Holy Union: The final realization that the Divine is "everywhere present." It is the union where we realize God is not just the repairman or the Father, but the very steps we take.

Takeaway 5: Approaching the "New Job" as a Curious Child
This journey from fear to freedom is not theoretical; it is applied in the "now." When starting a new job—perhaps even as soon as tomorrow—we face a choice. We can enter the orientation room heavy with expectations and the burden of "what will they think of me?" or we can show up as the curious child.

As Brother Lawrence famously practiced, God is not just in the "business" of life; God is in the play and the journey. When we view our career and our daily commute as a form of play, the need for external approval evaporates. When we are grounded in God's presence, "not caring what they think" becomes a natural byproduct of knowing whose we are.

Conclusion: Peace Begins with a Single Remembrance
Freedom without fear is the process of shedding the residue of decades to find the divine love at our center. This path is illuminated by the five Unity principles: recognizing God as the sole Source, embracing our spiritual nature, acknowledging the power of our thoughts, aligning through prayer, and—most importantly—actively living the truth we know.

Individual peace is the only true currency for global change. As the song says, "Peace begins with me." When we are at peace, our world is at peace, and only then can the "macro world" move toward a kingdom of abundance where all are cared for. As you look at your own life today, ask yourself: Which "cracked window" of old residue and fear are you finally ready to let go of, so that you can see the beauty beyond?

"Freedom without fear is all about remembering... it's not something to achieve, it's all something to remember."

"Getting back to your life....."

An innocent comment made by a friend...."it's nice to see you getting back to your life....", a response to my share of what I was doing today…..taking a Ukulele class….a class that I began early last year, and while in the class received a text that my Mom had been rushed to St Jude’s Hospital….that day, my life was forever changed…..from the music and the text….. I watched my response today to the comment…..and then stopped my friend, for I had realized what I was in the midst of the past few days/weeks…..You see there is ….no going back….I’m not that person anymore….nor do I want to be…..and I realized how grateful I am, for whom I’ve become…. My struggle, is that age old question “who am I….”…..in this moment……not who was I…..”Who am I”…..what do I believe; whom do I associate; I’m in that wonderful place of illumination….creation….and knowing I am Loved…. Love you Mom…. Love you Dad… Thank you for the gifts of a lifetime…..for your love, for your forgiveness….for saying yes to being my Mom and Dad…. I am Blessed!!!

"The Rainbow Comes and Goes".....a new book...

Yes, I stumbled upon this book....by Anderson Cooper and Gloria Vanderbilt...as I opened the front cover I discovered they were son and mother - it was interesting to read how the book came about....more interesting the message on the back cover: "When we're young we all waste so much time being reserved or embarrassed with our parents, resenting them or wishing they and we were entirely different people. This changes when we become adults, but we don't often explore new ways of talking and conversing, and we put off discussing complex issues or raising difficult questions. We think we'll do it one day, in the future, but life gets in the way, and then it's too late. I didn't want there to be anything left unsaid between my mother and me, so on her ninety-first birthday I decided to start a new kind of conversation with her, a conversation about her life. It ended up changing our relationship, bringing us closer than either of us had ever thought possible."........I cried as I read the last line.....tears of sadness, tears of joy....mostly tears of Gratitude....you see, I totally understand at a very deep level all that is written on the books jacket.....I love how God works....I've been reflecting on the past year....a journey that began on January 15, 2015 when my Dad (or was it God), dialed the wrong number to share that my Mom was on the way to the hospital.....I know it was a God intervention.....and I know it changed my life....allowing me to step into my fullness.....and more importantly it allowed for a "different" conversation with my Mom....one that allowed each of us to fully express who we are.....what we believed....and to LIVE the fullness of God's Grace......some day, I'll read the book I just bought (The Rainbow Comes and Goes) ..... today, I still "raw" from the human lost of my parents....the good news "no regrets".....Blessing all this beautiful Soul Day....

O Love Divine - Ernest Holmes

O Love Divine O Love Divine within me, I am overpowered by Thy Presence. I am speechless, for words cannot utter the things that Thou hast revealed to me. Why dost Thou love me so, and why clasp me so close to Thy Eternal Heart? O Blessed Presence, I know, for Thou hast claimed me as Thine own. I shall nevermore walk apart from Thee. The love of God is within me. Holmes, Ernest (1998-08-24). The Science of Mind: The Definitive Edition (p. 539). Penguin Group US. Kindle Edition.

Powerful Wisdom - Message from a Dying Friend

MESSAGE FROM A DYING FRIEND I don't want your answers, your good advice. I don't want your theories about 'why' or 'how'. I don't need your pity. Your attempts to make me feel better only make me feel worse. I am human, just like you, and crave realness. Just be present with me. Listen. Give me space. Hold my trembling hand, sometimes. Your attention is so precious to me. Your being speaks volumes. If you feel uncomfortable, don't be ashamed. If you don't know what to say to me, that's okay; I feel that way too, sometimes. If you feel disgusted, angry, uncertain, fearful, that's okay, I love you for it. You are human, too. Put your textbook learning to one side now. Don't try to have 'unconditional positive regard'; it feels so false to me. Forget 'empathy' - I want you to come closer than that. See, I am you, in disguise. These are your broken bones, your shallow breaths, your twisted limbs. I am your mirror; you are seeing yourself. Don't try to be strong for me. I am not a victim. Fall apart, if you must. Weep, if you need to weep. Mourn those shattered dreams, those lost futures. Let the past slip away too. Meet me here, now, in the fire of presence, with the fullness of your being. I speak in an ancient language now. I want you to be a witness. - Jeff Foster

A Practitioner's Heart - Rev Ed Rosenback, R.Sc.P.

A Practitioner’s Heart Rev. Ed Rosenback, R.Sc.P. We Practitioners are held to a high standard, something beyond dedication to the cause of living a principled life based on Spiritual Truth. It is a devotion to living, being, and embodying that Principle. It is not an easy path! I have moments when I forget, and I’m sure most of us can say the same. What we need to remember when we or one of our colleagues falters, is to keep before us our “moments of high resolve,” in the words of Howard Thurman. None of us is alone; each of us is united, in Spirit and in intent. Our part is to reveal the Truth that is ever-present: we (all) are God in We share a common bond, our hearts beat in a common rhythm, and our minds are focused on a single idea: God is all there is, and each of us is one with all others. Being a representative of Spirit demands adherence to this idea. “Be not deceived, God is not mocked.” It is our part to do the loving thing, at all times, even when we question the motives of others. When Rev. Dr. Terry Cole-Whittaker said, “What you think of me is none of my business,” I believe she was coming from this idea. When Jesus said (we are told), “Greater things than these shall ye do,” his words seem to have been based on this idea as well. Even if people “despitefully use us,” we hold to the Truth of Life as being of the One which we call Spirit or God. If we falter or fall short of our own expectations, we should know that who and what we are is inviolate. The older I get, the more I come to believe that a Practitioner is one who is ready to aspire to that high calling, whether they have actually completed the required coursework or attained a licensed professional status. It is who we are, regardless of appearances & regardless of circumstances. In this sense, I believe that there are “born Practitioners,” those who enter into Life with the Heart of a Practitioner. They have a caring spirit and an inborn desire to do Good Works, to bring forth God’s glory in Creation. Many enter our Churches and Centers, and take the training required to attain formal Practitioner status. Others do not, yet they are Practitioners-at-Heart: kind and caring healers of others’ spirits, and definitely beneficial presences in the world. This falls into line with what Ernest Holmes once said, about us all being our own Practitioner. Who was there to teach the first Practitioner? No one! Whoever it was, was guided by the Indwelling Spirit. It may have been rooted in the lineage of the early Hebrew prophets, but I suspect it was more ancient than that. We have record in the Old Testament of healings and deliverances through spiritual means, and this I submit was the result of some early “Practitioner-like” activity. While we now have specific training for our Practitioners, the first acts of healing came through individuals having intuitive understanding of the essential, indwelling Truth. Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned. Spiritual Truth is often revealed when we are led by our intuition. Divine Science teaches that the Superconscious is the seat of the intuition, and is also called the “Christ Mind.” To “have that Mind which was also in Christ Jesus” is to live by one’s intuitive nature. The Old Testament prophets had that intuitive sense of well-being and brought it forth into form. Licensed Practitioners have demonstrations due to their training and ability to apply that knowledge. To me, this is evidence of the universality of the Truth of Being, the intrinsic desire to bring forth the Divine Reality of perfection in spirit, soul, and body. This Reality is ever-present, even though circumstances may cloud our observation of It. Practitioners, formally trained or not, understand this and act accordingly to clear away the outer debris and allow the Truth to shine through. This some have called illumination, and I like that phrase. “If thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Keep your vision on the good, the beautiful and the true, and all will be well, as it should be. If or when a Practitioner falters, let us support them in the light of healing Love, knowing that the Truth will out, that God in their midst is greater than any challenge, and that in helping our brother or sister in need we are indeed doing God’s Work, expressing our Practitioner Heart. We are Spirit, we are Life, we are Love, we are Light, and we Rev. Ed Rosenback, R.Sc.P., is an ordained Divine Science Minister and a licensed Religious Science Practitioner serving the First Church of Religious Science in Vallejo, California. He is a published author and a Life Member of the International New Thought Alliance and the Divine Science Federation.

Standing in One's Truth

A year ago today....I made a life changing choice.....I decided to stand in the TRUTH....to stand up for someone who couldn't stand up for themselves. I utilized all the tools gifted me by my parents, teachers....the fundamental practices of my Spiritual teachings....I stood solid in what I knew; I trusted God to guide me....give me Grace....I followed that still small voice. This choice involved other people; it strengthened some...and washed out others...I was a mere reflection of the LIGHT....God's Love.....and in doing so, I came to understand myself....I give thanks each day for the difference my life has become...as I've returned to my authentic Self - and I am forever humbled in God's Presence....

Steve Jobs....Reported Last words....a Lesson for ALL

Reported last words of Steve Jobs - I have come to the pinnacle of success in business. In the eyes of others, my life has been the symbol of success. However, apart from work, I have little joy. Finally, my wealth is simply a fact to which I am accustomed. At this time, lying on the hospital bed and remembering all my life, I realize that all the accolades and riches of which I was once so proud, have become insignificant with my imminent death. In the dark, when I look at green lights, of the equipment for artificial respiration and feel the buzz of their mechanical sounds, I can feel the breath of my approaching death looming over me. Only now do I understand that once you accumulate enough money for the rest of your life, you have to pursue objectives that are not related to wealth. It should be something more important: For example, stories of love, art, dreams of my childhood. No, stop pursuing wealth, it can only make a person into a twisted being, just like me. God has made us one way, we can feel the love in the heart of each of us, and not illusions built by fame or money, like I made in my life, I cannot take them with me. I can only take with me the memories that were strengthened by love. This is the true wealth that will follow you; will accompany you, he will give strength and light to go ahead. Love can travel thousands of miles and so life has no limits. Move to where you want to go. Strive to reach the goals you want to achieve. Everything is in your heart and in your hands. What is the world's most expensive bed? The hospital bed. You, if you have money, you can hire someone to drive your car, but you cannot hire someone to take your illness that is killing you. Material things lost can be found. But one thing you can never find when you lose: life. Whatever stage of life where we are right now, at the end we will have to face the day when the curtain falls. Please treasure your family love, love for your spouse, love for your friends... Treat everyone well and stay friendly with your neighbors.

The Name of God is Mercy - Pope Francis & Andrea Tornielli

There's a new book on the shelves....released to support the Holy Year of Mercy....yet it speaks of the role each of us have to our fellow human....to any and all living creatures. Additionally the book gives great insight to Pope Francis and his goal, to remind each of us, the simple truth, "the smallest opening to God, opens the door for each of us to experience God's Grace...God's Mercy....simply said God never tires of forgiving...and the opening can be as simple as a prayer God Help Me... The Pope shares from the Gospel....the story at the well (John 8:11) - where Jesus shares Go and Sin no more.... Powerful read - recommend for all Blessings, Rev Kathleen

Friday - Pay it Forward @ Starbucks

WOW what an experience.....multiple Fridays I've been in Starbucks, and someone, sometime before me had started a "pay it forward"....meaning that the person in front of you pays for your drink!!! The first time it happened to me, it was amazing....TRUTH is every time it happens it is a gift, that reminds me of God's Goodness expressing in the here and now.......So today, I decided, I would start the "pay it forward".....I was at a Starbucks I have not visited before....it was crowded....so I said....its "my treat" to the person behind me.....what transpired was amazing....this person could not accept a kind gesture....and I wondered how many times, that was me...made me think...had me look.....I gently said....Next Time....and allowed him his space....and gave the "drink" (what I would have paid) as a tip for the crew.....I will try again....as "pay it forward" is God's Grace here and now....Blessings, Rev. Kathleen

Remember Me - Margaret Mead

This was shared last Saturday - Read by Gloria as a tribute for a life friend, classmate that had journey to the next Great Expression.... Remember Me: To the living, I am gone. To the sorrowful, I will never return. To the angry, I was cheated, But to the happy, I am at peace, And to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful sea - remember me. As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty - remember me. As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity - remember me. Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never be gone. Margaret Mead Margaret Mead has such a great wisdom, that transcends generation - like Gloria's classmate Betty Marie

Remebering and being in the MOMENT....

Thích Nhất Hạnh wrote: “The day my mother died I wrote in my journal, "A serious misfortune of my life has arrived." I suffered for more than one year after the passing away of my mother. But one night, in the highlands of Vietnam, I was sleeping in the hut in my hermitage. I dreamed of my mother. I saw myself sitting with her, and we were having a wonderful talk. She looked young and beautiful, her hair flowing down. It was so pleasant to sit there and talk to her as if she had never died. When I woke up it was about two in the morning, and I felt very strongly that I had never lost my mother. The impression that my mother was still with me was very clear. I understood then that the idea of having lost my mother was just an idea. It was obvious in that moment that my mother is always alive in me. I opened the door and went outside. The entire hillside was bathed in moonlight. It was a hill covered with tea plants, and my hut was set behind the temple halfway up. Walking slowly in the moonlight through the rows of tea plants, I noticed my mother was still with me. She was the moonlight caressing me as she had done so often, very tender, very sweet... wonderful! Each time my feet touched the earth I knew my mother was there with me. I knew this body was not mine but a living continuation of my mother and my father and my grandparents and great-grandparents. Of all my ancestors. Those feet that I saw as "my" feet were actually "our" feet. Together my mother and I were leaving footprints in the damp soil. From that moment on, the idea that I had lost my mother no longer existed. All I had to do was look at the palm of my hand, feel the breeze on my face or the earth under my feet to remember that my mother is always with me, available at any time.” Thank you Thích Nhất Hạnh, I'm in total awe and agreement....its a thin veil between worlds, and I am blessed in the knowingness that I can speak to my Mom as easily as I can write this blog today....and my prayer is as simple as "My Mom, my Mom.....or....LOVE you Mom"....and we are both uplifted....

Thinking of those who came before me...

It's weird today, I have an overwhelming feeling of my Grandmother Bennett....and Irish Traditions....and all that she taught me....and this Irish Blessing came to mind: Remembered Joy- An Irish Blessing.... Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free! I follow the plan God laid for me. I saw His face, I heard His call, I took His hand and left it all... I could not stay another day, To love, to laugh, to work or play; Tasks left undone must stay that way. And if my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss... Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss. My life’s been full, I’ve savoured much: Good times, good friends, a loved-one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief— Don’t shorten yours with undue grief. Be not burdened with tears of sorrow, Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow. Remembering Grandma.....and Mom....and those that came before them ... Elizabeth, Mary...for its on your shoulders I ma uplifted....thank you for the blessings...

Gratitude as a Habit....

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson What does this habit look like....how does it feel....I know the teachings of Jesus share "in all things give thanks"....in all THINGS...that thought in mind I am grateful....for all that I am....all that I have....all that I will be....for I know it is all part of the Divine Plan....
